SABAK, WILSON & LINGO, INC. was engaged by the then Louisville Development Authority in 2001 to develop a comprehensive streetscape plan for the West Broadway corridor in downtown Louisville from Third to Ninth Streets. The plan involved incorporating transportation and way-finding recommendations prepared by other consultants. The resulting plan involved integrating landscape, signage, lighting,, furnishings and paving details throughout the study area. A detail plan was prepared for the 2 block “Pilot Project” between Third and Fifth Streets near the Theater district. The pattern of development respected the placement of underground vaults and basements from pre-1900 era buildings, which extended under existing sidewalks. The estimated cost of improvements for the Pilot Project was $800,000. |
